Hire Agents for a Delivery App's Two Queues

Delivery App Support

A delivery app does not have a support queue. It has two, running at the same time and pulling in opposite directions: a customer whose order is late or wrong, and a courier stuck at a closed restaurant or a wrong address. Both need an answer in minutes, and the answer to one often decides the other.

Global Empire Corporation staffs agents who work both sides of that live operation. You set the refund and compensation limits and the escalation rules; we staff to your demand curve — which peaks at dinner, on weekends and in bad weather — and supervise against resolution time rather than call volume.

  • Staffed against the order curve by hour, including weekend and weather peaks
  • Agents working live order state, not a disconnected ticket queue
  • A written compensation matrix so goodwill is consistent and auditable
  • One team covering customer and courier contact, so both sides stay in sync

Live Operations, Not Ticket Queues

Delivery support is real-time. A customer contact about an order in progress has a window of a few minutes in which anything useful can be done, and after that the only options left are refunds and apologies. Agents therefore need visibility of the order and the authority to act inside it, not a ticket form.

That shapes everything: staffing follows the order curve hour by hour, agents hold both the customer and courier context, and the compensation matrix is written down so nobody has to improvise a goodwill decision at the busiest moment of the night.

Contact types

What agents handle on a delivery platform

  • Order issues

Late, missing, wrong or damaged orders, resolved inside your compensation limits while the order is still live where possible.

  • Courier support

Wrong addresses, closed venues, app problems and pickup disputes — the contact that decides whether the delivery completes at all.

  • Merchant contact

Menu, availability, prep-time and payout questions from restaurants and stores, which quietly drive a large share of order failures.

  • Account and payments

Failed payments, refunds, promo problems and account access, handled to your verification rules.

How Delivery Support Gets Staffed

Built around the fact that the work is live and the peak is predictable.

  1. Map the order curve

Contact volume by hour and day, and how it moves with weather, promotions and local events. Delivery peaks are sharp and repeatable, which means they can be staffed rather than survived.

  2. Write the compensation matrix

What an agent may refund, credit or re-deliver without approval, by issue type and order value. Without it, either everything escalates or goodwill becomes unpredictable.

  3. Give agents the live order view

Access to order state, courier position and merchant status, scoped to the role. An agent who cannot see the order can only apologise.

  4. Review the failure reasons weekly

Support sees why deliveries fail before your dashboards do. Feeding that back into merchant prep times, address data and courier guidance is worth more than any handle-time improvement.

Delivery App Support

Courier Contact Is Not a Lower Priority Queue

Almost every delivery platform starts by staffing customer contact properly and treating courier contact as overflow. It is exactly backwards. A courier waiting for an answer is a delivery not happening, which becomes a customer contact ten minutes later — usually an angrier one, with a refund attached.

Answering the courier fast is therefore the cheapest customer-service intervention available. We staff both queues on one team so the agent handling the courier already has the order context, and we report the two side by side so nobody can quietly starve one to make the other's numbers look good.

  • Report courier and customer response times side by side
  • Staff the courier queue for the same peaks, not as a residual
  • Treat a courier contact as a live order at risk, not a ticket
  • Feed repeat failure causes back to merchant and address data owners

Frequently asked questions

Can agents cover the late-night and weekend peak?

Yes, and for a delivery platform that is the point. Coverage is planned around the order curve, so the dinner peak, the weekend and the bad-weather spike are staffed deliberately rather than absorbed by whoever happens to be on shift.

Do you handle courier and customer contact on one team?

By default, yes. The agent answering a courier can see the order the customer will call about, which keeps the two sides consistent. Separate teams end up telling the customer and the courier two different things about the same delivery.

How do you keep refunds under control?

With a written compensation matrix and sampled audits. Agents get real authority inside defined limits, which is faster and cheaper than escalating everything, and the audit is what keeps the pattern honest as volume grows.

Can agents work inside our own admin tools?

Normally yes, with access scoped to the role. A live operation cannot be supported through a form; agents need the order view. Provisioning that access is usually the longest lead item in launching, so it is worth starting early.

What about chat and in-app messaging?

In-app messaging is usually where both couriers and customers start, so it is staffed alongside voice with concurrency set from the real conversation profile rather than a default. What matters is that both channels see the same order context.
